A Brief View of the Important Things to Know Before Visiting Statue of Unity

Statue of Unity is a brand new and outstanding addition to the itineraries of the travelers willing to explore Gujarat. It is a tribute to one of India’s greatest figures Sardar Vallabbhai Patel and the inauguration took place on his 143rd birth anniversary. The statue is 182 meters tall, making it the highest one on earth.

The island where the statue is built is known as Sadhu Bet which is near to the Sardar Sarovar Dam on the Narmada riverbed. The size of the statue is two times bigger compared to the iconic Statue of Liberty in New York and five times taller compared to the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro. It also left behind the Buddha Statue at China’s Spring Temple Buddha Lushan Country in Henan.

Facts you need to know about the Statue of Unity

For the express entry, you need to spend INR. 1000 per head. It is applicable for both the adult and child. Viewing gallery will cost you INR. 200 per head for kids and INR. 350 per head for adults. (You are allowed to visit Observation Deck view, Memorial, Valley of Flower, Museum & Audio Visual Gallery, SOU site and Sardar Sarovar Dam within the ticket prices mentioned above)

Timings

9 AM to 5 PM and besides Monday you can plan to visit the statue any other days (from Tuesday to Sunday)

Things you can consider doing there

Start with a road trip which is destined to Narmada’s Kevadia district from Vadodara Airport. The journey will take approximately an hour and a half. Along the road, you will get to see a valley of flowers that will make your journey more pleasant. After you reach the statue of unity, climb up to the chest level, so you can get to the viewing gallery which is at the height of 135 meters, gazing at the Sardar Sarovar Dam.

While visiting the statue of unity, you will get to experience a panoramic view from its visitor gallery of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, the water reservoir beyond it which is 200 km long and the mountain ranges of Vindhyachal and Satpura.
